Dancing with Monika

Hello you gorgeous people!

Excited to be sharing the video of my dance performance from last year. Also, I am way too lazy to write something new, so here’s a caption from my instagram that I wrote on the day of my dance performance..

“I used to dance a lot in school but in college I became a completely different person! Partly bcoz I started thinking that I am not great at it and I was scared to make a fool of myself.. I kept dreaming about being on stage and dancing my heart out but what was the point of dancing if I couldn’t be the best. Apart from this obsession with perfection, I was super scared to be on stage in a costume that would focus on the parts of my body I found big.. yes, I thought I was too fat to dance on stage! You see how twisted my thought process was?

But this last year I signed up for the performance quarter to overcome my absolute rubbish fears. We miss out on life so much focusing on all the wrong things.. whether it is our fascination with being perfect, having the perfect body or being the smartest in the room.. Rarely any of us is ok being a student and learning.. Rarely any of us is ok looking stupid or failing at things..

I am definitely talking like I just went to the moon and came back 🤦‍♀️but you get me.. Maybe this was my moon and I am so glad I shut that negativity to do something I loved! So I guess I am just saying that you don’t have to be amazing at something to do it. And don’t let your factors like weight stop you. Go join that class.. go sing.. write .. make something .. do whatever your heart desires without letting the negative chatter stop you.

If you made it till here oh gosh I love you!!!! This post is straight from my heart.. can be i anymore sappy 🙈”

And here’s the video of the performance. Hope you guys enjoy watching it.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I’ll see you all soon.. – Love, M ❤️

  1. Omg, you killed it! Loved watching you dance; you were easily the most graceful and enjoyable dancer on stage! 😀 This should be your plan B if you are ever going to change careers. 🙂

  2. Oh Manno, you rocked the performance! You were always a superb dancer, and will always be the No. 1 inspiration for me. I hope one day I shall challenge myself to listen to my heart and do what I really want.
