Pink Coat

2017 was the year of my obsession with everything pink. I bought 3 bags, a pair of shoes , a pair of earrings and a coat in different shades of pink to declare my undying love for it.

But this was not always the case! There was a time during my early twenties when I wanted nothing to do with pink bcoz it was, you know, too girly and feminine. And I thought being girly and feminine was a sign of weakness. Oh poor little ignorant Monika. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Anywho, coming to the main attraction of this post – the pink coat. So after searching for days at end *like 2.5 days*, I found this wool coat from Mango. I was extremely happy with my purchase.. until.. I started seeing pink teddy coats everywhere.  What are teddy coats? Oh imagine the softest fluffiest blankets that you can legit wear in the name of fashion (linked a bunch of them at the end of the post) and that make you look this cute –

Like any mature individual in this situation,  I contemplated buying a pink teddy coat even though I already had a pink wool coat! The most brutal inner battle was fought between #yolo Monika and #sensible Monika in the days that followed. And I am proud to report that #sensible was victorious and she banned #yolo from buying another pink coat. 👏

It’s so easy to get carried away with trends even when you already have something similar. As much as fashion is fun, sometimes it can be demanding too. Don’t let the pressures of being “fashion forward” force you to buy something you don’t need.. #monika-the-wisest #let’s-get-real #we-all-know-she-didn’t-have-the-money-buy-another-coat 🙄 #we-also-know-that-she-doesn’t-look-this-cool-in-real-life 👇🏽

  1. Girl, you’re absolutely right about how we shouldn’t be buying into each and every trend. Sensible Monika did the right thing. 🙂 And btw, you look gorgeous! Love the wool coat; it’s so flattering!
