Off-shoulder top and dog poop

Big sleeves, off-shoulder, cold-shoulder.. basically anything to do with sleeves is super in this season. Hence, wearing one for the blog/first part of the title.

The second part of the title might be a little intriguing for you guys. Let me explain. You may or may not have noticed that I was missing from action. Reason? I was actually rebelling against myself as my obsession with capturing moments in pictures was getting out of hand. Bane of this era anyone?. 😕 I am trying to cut down on the time I spend trying to freeze the moment in a shot rather than enjoying it. So I decided to not spend more than 10 minutes capturing all the shots for this post. In all the rush, I did not check the area of the grass I was about to sit on. Woooppsh and I sat on dog poop 🤦🏽‍♀️ and not just any dog poop. It was a super fresh one. 🙄 The ride back home was even worse bcoz Mr. M is obsessed with his car and made me sit on a plastic bag. 😤

In other news, I was in SFO a couple of days back watching a street performance. Almost everyone had their phones out  trying to capture the moment. After sometime, I walked to the BART station and their was a person playing beautiful music. Again, everyone watching him had their phones out. It made me wonder, why do we have this need to capture everything? Also, how many times do we actually go back and look at these videos/photos? Ofcourse, nothing wrong with capturing the essence of something that touches you but why capture EVERYTHING and do it  ALL THE TIME? Oh before I preach just want to let you know that I am super guilty of it. Mr. M on the other hand is all about enjoying the moment. I am sure I drove him crazy on our trip to Mendocino with wanting pics at every corner *clearly the scenery was still the same after walking 100 feet but you know 🤦🏽‍♀️*and that was the time I realized my obsession to capture and share was getting out of hand. More importantly, it was SOOOO draining and tiring.

Maybe some moments are better felt than shot. Maybe some moments are better left untouched than retouched. Maybe some moments are better in the moment than in a photo. Oh but it’s so difficult to follow this, partly because all we see around us are people sharing their awesome life moments  and whether we accept or not, somewhere deep down we want to do the same aka let the world know ‘hey I gotta good life’. Our real lives are colliding with our online persona and we are trying too hard to keep up with a make believe online world. Ah the pressure to compete with the perfect online world of our friends eventually takes a toll on most of us.  It get’s even more difficult because very rarely you see people sharing their vulnerable and not-so-pretty moments..

And that’s the biggest reason why I share my vulnerabilities with so much pride and I encourage all of you to do the same. I strongly strongly feel that we need to fill the world with some more authenticity and realness. Share your imperfections, your fears, your weaknesses, your sad moments with as much love as you share your perfect life moments, your beautiful pictures, your accomplishments. Also, I am making it  a point to live more in the moment and rebel against my need to take a million photos. *A thousand are enough.* 🙈

Did this post take a complete U-turn? How did I end up talking about vulnerabilities and stuff after starting the post with dog poop. ?🤷‍♀️ lol I guess I just let my writing go where my heart was going. *Ah so deep Monika. You are definitely on your way to Pulitzer prize*.  Alrite alrite to do my bit for sharing more ‘real’ content here’s a photo of me fighting with Mr. M for taking pics of the cute duckies *can’t blame him though* when I was in the middle of posing. 🤦🏽‍♀️

About the Outfit

Athleisure is life. I wear leggings 5 times a week. No wonder my insta feed is so repetitive. 🤷‍♀️ I fell in the love with tropical vibes of this off-shoulder top from Shein (<$15). I won’t lie but I was little unsure about the fit and material. It’s actually super comfortable and so perfect for the scorching heat. I made sure to check the size chart before ordering and it’s as loose as I wanted it to be 🙂

If you follow me on insta (if not, why not?? I need followers guys!🤣 )I was raving about the Payless shoes but they hurt. I should have bought one size bigger. Oh well I am hoping they will expand. How is a questions left to fate!

Also, the loose/long top and leggings make my short legs look even shorter. And you know what? That’s totally rad! Why? Because I feel comfortable and super awesome in this outfit. The point is that don’t let the dictates of fashion stop you from wearing what you like and feel comfortable in. Life is too short to not wear what you love. Another Pulitzer prize winning line anyone?. 🤷‍♀️
