Grow up! But why?

Grow up. Dress your age. But why!? I may sound like a broken record but fashion/style is all about wearing what you love. And if that means dressing up like a 18 year old goth punk princess, then so be it! 😈 You see, my age is increasing in number but my heart is still stuck at 16 and well, doesn’t plan to grow beyond 18. I haven’t done a lot of regular teenage stuff when I was actually a teenager –  bunking school, going to parties, being rebellious etc. – maybe that is the reason I want to relive my younger days! 👶🏽

In all seriousness, I don’t want to grow up if being grown up means losing your innocence, honesty, curiosity and all the goody things that makes childhood “the bawse”! The constant struggle to earn more, have a bigger house, a better car, a successful career… is soooo draining. With each passing day, you stop believing in your dreams, you stop trusting your instincts, you let the world dictate your destiny, you stop believing in the goodness of people, you are taught to be mean..  Each day of your life is planned to make the ever elusive future better. How sad it is that our quest for tomorrow ruins our present? I see so many broken dreams, so many unfulfilled wishes, so many “what if’s”..

So I have decided to never grow up. I want to squeal with excitement everytime I watch a disney movie.. I want to eat ice cream for lunch..I want to believe in magic.. I want to view the world with wonderment.. I want to be excited for each day.. I want to believe that I can conquer the world.. I want to have faith in my dreams.. I want to wear every color possible in a single outfit.. And most importantly, I want to live a bright and happy life.. Damn the world! Are you with me?

    1. I honestly couldn’t agree more with all you’ve said, beautiful! I truly believe it’s having that joy and inner child that you allow to come out that keeps you young at heart, as well as actually looking it! I’ve met some women who don’t look their age at all. One long lost friend of mine has to be nearing 80 and OMG I’m not even kidding when I say she looked no more than 45! She said it was hard for her b/c she was always attracting younger men, haha. But it was her young, loving, and energetic spirit that kept her like that. You look so cute, I adore all these colors on you, they flatter your skin so perfectly and truly pop so beautifully! Thanks so much for sharing, girlie, and I hope you’re having the best week so far!

      1. Jalisa you are absolutely the sweetest!! Thank you sooo much for all the love and sweet comment. And your friend sounds amazing. I would love to meet her! hehe.. Hope you are having a great start to the week <3

  1. Nice post. I’m the kind of person who is occasionally grown up (meaning I only act as a grown up when the opportunity demands it), otherwise, I’m a total goof.

  2. I completely agree with you! I don’t want to dress like my teenaged daughter but I don’t think I need to dress frumpy in my 40’s!

  3. These poses!! you look so adorable. Reminds me of 3 year old you in that pic you showed me!! 🙂 :* Let’s never grow up 😉

  4. I think everyone should keep the child alive inside of us. That’s when the world is full of possibilities. As for dressing the way you want – you go girl!

  5. Hello babe, I loved this piece! I feel you on this and happy to see you live it!!!!! You look super adorbs!! Love this rocking chic look! Love Tanvi @kapofstyle

  6. Hahah! Yayy, so with you on this babe! I agree, growing up the “traditional” (for the lack of a better word) way is no fun… that’s why I’ve decided to redefine the rules. Ideally, there should be no rules.. but if we’re setting a standard with the way we live our lives.. I am most definitely doing it my way. And I love that energy about you. As much as people might ask you to grow up, don’t! Be who you are and do what you love! People all want to do that anyway.. just that not many of them have the guts to. Ultimately, it’s only about how happy you are with you life.. as long as you’re not harming others! :p
PS – And how cute is this look! As much as you would’ve liked to look gothic, you look super cute in that skirt and yellow top!!! <3 <3

    1. Hey Tivoli!!! Thank you soo much for such a sweet comment and always being the sweetest <3 And yesss I am never growing up and neither should you. Kids always have more fun!! hope you are having the best best start of the week gorgeous :*

  7. Love this!!! I couldn’t agree more, and think that so much of aging is in how you feel. I know I don’t feel my age, and don’t want it to limit how I express myself in fashion. P.S-…that mustard yellow is super in this fall. Just went to a fall preview at Nieman Marcus. Way to be on it! 🙂

  8. I am with you! I loved and enjoyed at the same time, each and every word of yours saying that you don’t want to grow up! I feel the same way! The constant battle we fight everyday of becoming better & better and achieving goals i draining sometimes, and we loose that innocence, that laugh, that believe that made us come so far with this constant grown up feeling. Loved your fun pictures <3 Fun, stylish, chic and cute!
