Effortless style requires effort – OOTD

Do you belong to the 5%-10% of the population who always look effortlessly stylish? Think of all the supermodels, top actresses, maybe even a few friends.. If not, welcome to the sisterhood of looking-effortless-requires-alot-of-work

For example, the picture below looks pretty natural/effortless but trust me, I had to ‘work’ to create this look..

If I was to truly go effortless, the result would be something similar to this  (I swear I am not kidding) –

effortless-style-requires-effort-ootd

Usually women who look like supermodels are automatically assumed to have effortless style even if they are wearing a simple tee and shorts. If I wore the exact same outfit, I swear I’ll be considered far from stylish. No offense to these wonderful ladies (not their fault that our perception of beauty is so limited) but this is the sad reality we live in and see everyday.. This puts so much pressure on young girls to look a certain way and skews their perception of beauty. I hope we all can do our bit to make these young girls feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. In the end, how a girl feels about herself is such a huge factor that contributes to how happily, confidently and successfully she leads her life.

Now give me that nobel prize, will ya!? lol ok after that lame attempt at humor, let’s talk about the look for this post. Obviously I wanted to create a look that would scream how naturally stylish I am. Who am I kidding!? It took me atleast an hour and alot of back and forth to create something that could remotely be called effortless or stylish 😝 The accessories, hairstyle, flowers.. all these pieces played a huge role in getting that effortless vibe.

Don’t be disheartened if wearing a simple dress does not transform you into a style icon. Remember what you see on the internet is the best version of an individual and there is alot more that goes on behind the closed curtains.😊 – Love, M ❤️

  5. I totally resonate with everything you said! I think it’s all about finding things that flatter you–you body shape, your skin tone, etc. Looks like you have it down. 🙂 That and when we’re wearing something we love, we glow.

  6. You just crack me up Monika. You always have such honest thoughts.

  7. I love this post and your outfit, the pants are amazing and there is nothing better than fresh flowers. You’re absolutely right by saying that how we feel about ourselves has a strong influence on our happiness. And honestly, all these effortless outfits aren’t even effortless and the pictures in magazines are always photoshopped, we have to keep that in mind. I think that everyone secretly spends 30 minutes to achieve the perfect messy bun haha. xx

  8. Love your look! Those effortless looks are my favorite, but they do require a lot of effort. I love beach waves but they take forever!

  9. “Do you belong to the 5%-10% of the population who always look effortlessly stylish? ” Uhhhh I wish! I belong to the group that looks semi homeless. But your style is so cute and looks so seamless, kinda making me jealous… =] Keep up the great style dear, it looks good on you!!

  10. Haha! You are so right about the “effortless” look. When I try to look effortless and actually put little effort into, it’s a 50/50 toss up of whether I’ll look cute, or like a hobo… 😉

  11. Hehe you are SO right, effortless style definitely still requires a little effort. No one wants to see me when I am legit effortless, haha unless they’re coming over for a pajama party and Netflix binge!

  12. This is such an honest take on things Monika and I couldn’t agree any less!An effortless look sometimes isn’t as effortless as it seems. There definitely is a lot of thought and effort put behind it!We often get entangled between the world’s definition of beauty and our real self. The only message that needs to be put out there is that, we shouldn’t get fooled into believing other’s version of reality. Being pretty and perfect is sure a nice thing, but it’s mostly useless if you’re unhappy from within!

  13. So true, there is no such thing as effortless styling, there’s a lot that goes on in putting together a look and behind the camera too. Well super models is a whole other story, to have a body to rock a T and shorts, plus look, well, like super models you have got to put in a lot of EFFORT too, no easy feat that. Haha that face mask picture is too funny and love those palazzo pants on you. Happy weekend love!

  14. You always look stunning, I loved those pants on IG! This is such an important point though, for women everywhere. We’re meant to think that we should roll out of bed looking perfect and that’s just not the case. It takes effort to look “naturally beautiful,” and real natural beauty is never seen in the media so people don’t see it as real. On a lighter note, loving your Target pieces! 😛

  15. I just love reading your posts, girl. It’s true how much influence media has on us these days. Many women (not just teenagers) have low esteem because they look different from what they see in magazines. I guess we all need to remind ourselves that what we see is not always real.
    P. S. You look amazing in this outfit; it looks so feminine and flowy. Perfect for a spring weekend outing:) Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful!

  16. hahahahaha i relate! i guess it has something to do with the public definition of what’s “beautiful”. most people still consider beautiful is being tall, skinny, fair complexion, long hair, etc. when I was in college and was somewhat underweight, i got tons of compliments about how I’ve got such a great posture and whatever I wore would look good on me (effortless, right?). But now that I’ve gained some weight, I don’t get that kind of compliments anymore, not as much anyway. hahaha. so i totally relate! but i guess it also speaks about how you feel about yourself. I try to maintain that attitude that when I wear what I want, I’d feel beautiful because that’s 100% me. so even effortless stylishness is kinda relative, right?

gosh anyway…. you really pulled this look off. don’t care how much effort it took you, all it matters is how you feel about it! hahaha. love your smile too!
